Meet our new programme: ENECHANGE Insight Ventures. It will take the place of the Japan Energy Challenge (JEC) from 2021 and expand on it.
Since 2018, we have presented 49 finalists to companies in the Japanese energy sector through the Japan Energy Challenge. Our alumni have gone on to do great things in Japan and beyond: from Heliatek’s collaboration with LOOOP, to investments and study commissions into Virta and Powervault by JXTG Nippon Oil and Energy Corporation, and investment into Connected Energy. From 2021, we look to build on this history as ENECHANGE Insight Ventures (EIV).
The EIV programme will combine the original competition with more chances for startups to be introduced to relevant Subscribers in Japan and build strong relationships with them. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the possibilities of online presenting and networking have reached a far greater audience. ENECHANGE Insight Ventures will be building on this: our chosen startups have the chance to present their vision in monthly, 45-minute, deep-dive webinars that are exclusive to our Subscribers, who are all strong players in the Japanese energy sector.
Applications are now open through April 15, with up to 20 ventures chosen for each year’s cohort. A selection of winners will be then chosen in collaboration with the Subscribers, and both winners and finalists will have the opportunity to attend our inaugural EIV summit (details TBA).
